As we move closer to graduation many students are beginning to focus on fall and college plans. For those seniors who still have questions about scholarships, grants, and the college application process, the hourglass is quickly running out. The Go Center can help.

The Go Center is in operation every Wednesday from 9 am until 11:45 am in W119 between E and F halls to answer questions about the college application process. The Go Center is made up of University of North Texas students who have been through the process themselves and are eager to help others. UNT sophomore and Go Center volunteer Maria Madinaveitia notes that many of the questions are related to the cost of college. College tuition has become so expensive that families are constantly looking for alternative ways to pay for it.

“We can help you better understand what you’re supposed to do,” said Maria, “and how to complete your FAFSA.” FAFSA is the acronym for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid which many students apply for.

Not only does the Go Center help students answer FAFSA questions, but they are also a good resource for finding scholarships for specific majors or applicants who qualify for a particular demographic. With college costs as high as they are, the Go Center provides a practical service.

The Go Center volunteers will continue to visit Frisco High School every Wednesday from 9:00 am until 11:45 am through April. They are qualified to answer a variety of questions students may have about the application process.

The spring semester of your junior year is an ideal time to visit the Go Center. Starting early can save students the stress of racing with the calendar. There is still time for those seniors who have waited, but there will be fewer options.

If college is part of your fall plans please see your counselor for an appointment with the Go Center.
