Spooky Season, aka Halloween, can be a controversial topic. Why is that? Do you celebrate Halloween?

Ding dong! It is October 31st. You hear children on your front porch excitedly yelling “Trick or Treat!” as you open the door. There is a group of kids dressed in adorable costumes eagerly waiting for their bag to be filled with candy. They will later go home and stuff themselves with chocolates and other sweets before going to sleep only to receive a bellyache afterward.

Some families do not allow their children to indulge in Halloween for a variety of reasons. Some feel that it is no longer safe to roam the neighborhoods and go to stranger’s houses or some may have religious reasons not to celebrate Halloween.

“Halloween is the devils day,” said the parent of one Frisco High student. They believe the holiday is evil. “Even though my parents don’t like to celebrate Halloween,” said the student, “I still enjoy going out with friends on Halloween night.”

“Halloween is the time of year where you actually start to feel the seasons change from summer to fall,” said Grace Dehaven. “It’s the official beginning of festive activities that let us know the holidays are approaching. Also, I just love scary things.”

Most people look upon Halloween as a light-hearted event. It is an opportunity to take the kids trick or treating and to dress up as a princess, a ninja turtle, or a marvel super hero. Besides, there is a sack full of candy to look forward to. What is not to enjoy?
